Our Doctors
Dr. Jan Westberry has enjoyed practicing as a general dentist in New Smyrna Beach for over thirty five years. She grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, finishing an undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and became one of the first female dentists in Volusia County. Her oldest daughter, Dr. Wendy Tresher, and her son, Dr. Will Westberry, currently practice with her at Westberry and Tresher Family Dentistry. Her youngest daughter, Kaitlin, is a veterinarian in Denver, CO.
Dr. Westberry is a board certified forensic dentist and is the chief forensic dentist for two Florida medical examiners districts. She volunteers her time to serve on the state mass disaster team, FEMORS, and the federal mass disaster team, DMORT. Through these organizations, Dr. Westberry had the honor and privilege of helping to identify victims of both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Westberry is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental Practice Based Research Group. She was the president of the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s College of Alumni and Friends in 2014. She is currently serving on the Ethics Committee of the American Board of Forensic Odontology and on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Forensic Odontology. Dr. Westberry is also a courtesy professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
Dr. Westberry is committed to giving back both in her community and abroad. She has done extensive medical mission work with the US Navy, doing dentistry in several countries in Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia. Her local mission work includes the Dental Baptist Bus, Give Kids a Smile, Pedicare, and Donated Dental Services.
Dr. Westberry officially retired in 2019, but you can still find her in the office working for various charity organizations and keeping us all in line! We wish her the best in her retirement and thank her for her many years of caring service to this community.
